Reading List

I like to read. This is what I’ve read / am reading…

Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

A fascinating and hilarious book about dating today. Made me even happier to be married and out of that world. So glad I never had to date in the time of Tinder. 5/5

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson

After listening to a ton of the StarTalk podcast, I decided it was time to read some of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s work. 4/5

North by Scott Jurek

I love Scott Jurek. He’s basically my idol. Eat & Run was one of the books that got me interested in running in the first place. This book is equally fantastic. 5/5

The Big Book of Endurance Training and Racing by Phil Maffetone

Maffetone’s ‘MAF’ approach to training changed my life. I run 4-5 days a week based on his approach and have never been more consistent. The diet-related parts of the book don’t really work well for me (I’m vegan), but the training approach is great. 5/5

Finding Ultra by Rich Roll

I also listen to the Rich Roll Podcast, so this was an obvious book to read. Roll’s journey to health is pretty fascinating, though he gets pretty preachy at times. Overall, a good book, but a couple parts are a bit rough to get through. 4/5

Field Guide to Ultrarunning by Hal Koerner

I’m hoping to do an ultra in 2019, so reading this book was a cool look ahead to where I hope to be next year. The advice he provides is good, though there’s not a ton of depth to the book. A motivating read, but much of it felt like common sense to me. 4/5
